First Baptist Church of Joplin, Missouri, is prayerfully seeking a Senior Pastor to lead our congregation. We are a mid-sized, multi-generational Southern Baptist church committed to evangelizing our community through service and discipling believers in their walk with Christ.
The ideal candidate will hold a seminary degree and/or have at least ten years of pastoral experience. We seek a gifted shepherd who is devoted to preaching and teaching God’s Word, provides strong administrative leadership, and leads with wisdom, humility, and vision.

Children’s Minister
The Children’s Minister is a full-time ministry position responsible for leading and developing evangelism and discipleship ministries for children from birth through fifth grade in alignment with the doctrine, purpose, and vision of First Baptist Church of Joplin. This role provides direct leadership to the Children’s Ministry while working closely with preschool and nursery leadership to create a welcoming, well-organized, and gospel-centered environment for children and their families.
Responsibilities include overseeing Sunday morning and Wednesday evening ministries, developing and supporting volunteer teams, preparing age-appropriate biblical teaching, and leading special events throughout the year, including seasonal outreach events, Promotion Sunday, summer camps, Vacation Bible School, and other ministry opportunities. The Children’s Minister will also work alongside the pastoral team to help implement the vision of the church and develop meaningful relationships with children, families, and volunteers.
We are looking for a relational leader who loves working with children, values collaboration and teamwork, and is passionate about helping families grow together in their faith.
